Brave New World in History As Literature

Brave New World in History As LiteratureBrave New World in History as Literature is a course based on the fields of media and literature and their new paradigms and their complex interconnections. It is by Bruce Thornton, LSE, a professor of modern literature, culture and political economy, University of Cambridge.Like a new paradigm, the essay course has been a landmark in the history of literature courses. It is an interactive course of essays which are systematically constructed by means of personal voices, examples and texts of books and films, some of which might have had an influence on the essay writer. It has three stages. The first stage involves the students introducing and elaborating their work in the genre in relation to the subject of the course and to that of the author or their own work. It can be a combination of introduction, elaboration and extension and this helps the student in integrating their texts with texts from other authors. Students should also study the s ources to understand the culture of the author, their works and those of others, to prepare themselves for future discussions. For instance, they might have read an essay by Shakespeare, discovered another essay by Vonnegut or other writers within the same genre. The second stage is the discussion of the texts under discussion. In this, students learn to put together various pieces of the larger puzzle and apply these to particular texts, actors and styles. This includes reading texts in an informed way, so as to understand how these texts are constructed. Then the students use the broad outlines they have drawn in the initial discussion of the text to develop a more comprehensive description of the texts. It involves the blending of the outline with the descriptions of the texts and the integration of them into the main body of the text. To master this skill, the students should also read about the work of other writers who also integrate wider elements of the work. The final stage is the development of the structure of the text. The final stage is character building, interpretation and evaluation of the text. There are several other elements such as persuasive writing, argument, critical theory and stylistic analysis. The concept behind Brave New World in History as Literature is that the written word evolves into a new paradigm that brings us closer to the heart of humanity. In this paradigm, the humanities can play a dominant role in educating individuals and societies towards more understanding of one another and better communication among people.A good essay will show how writing and its incorporation of various genres can play a dominant role in bringing people together and reduce barriers between cultures. It is a guide on how the process of learning about the past and the structures of written language can help improve people's lives.
